Thanks for a great HPM season!
I’d like to thank everyone who participated in the Hopkinton Prone Matches this year, it was a very enjoyable summer of shooting and eating! Last night’s party was no exception…good friends, good food, and good shooting made for a great night. I have lots of pictures and video from last night’s event and I will [...]
Hopkinton Prone Match Tonight
Tonight is the second-to-last HPM. The heat wave has broken here in New England and it’s finally comfortable outside…so come on out and shoot with us. The range will be open around 4pm.
And, if you’re planning on coming to the steak dinner next week, don’t forget to register here.
8/13/09 HPM
Pretty sparse night at the HPM’s tonight. Just 7 shooters showed up for some fairly tame conditions, although there was a condition change on the the second target that apparently threw several of us for a loop. George Pantazelos took third place with a 398-31x, Erik Hoskins took second with a 399-28x and Dan Holmes [...]
8/6/09 HPM
We had a beautiful evening to shoot last night at HPM. It was nice to see some friends we haven’t seen in a few weeks and tell a few stories from this year’s trip to Camp Perry. Kim Coffey shot a great match last night with a score of 400-19x (irons) to secure the third [...]
7/16/09 HPM
We had a record turnout last night with 20 shooters at last night’s Hopkinton Prone Match. Erik Hoskins took first with a 400-32x, Len Remaly took the second place spot with a 399-27x, and Brad Driscoll took third with a 399-21x. Complete results can be viewed here. Thanks to everyone for coming out to the [...]
7/9/09 HPM
Great match last night. Rich Girvin beat out Kim Coffey and Len Remaly by only a few Xs to take third place with a 397-25x. I took the second place slot with a 399-29x and I was partuclarly pleased with my second stage target of 200-17x with irons. And Erik Hoskins took the gold with [...]
Thursday HPM Time Change
To accommodate shooters that are going to the 4pm relay at the Bay State Games Match on Thursday, we are moving the the HPM start time for this Thursday to 6:30pm. A club member should be at the Hopkinton range at 6pm to open up the facilities. This should allow shooters to shoot the Bay [...]
7/2/09 HPM
A dull and foggy day with a drizzle of rain. The house is banked in with rolling clouds, which rise now and then to show the dreary curves of the moor, with thin, silver veins upon the sides of the hills, and the distant boulders gleaming where the light strikes upon their wet faces. –The [...]
HPM Tonight
Despite the thunderstorms and rain throughout the day, it looks like the weather may actually improve by match time this evening. I should be at the range around 4ish if shooters would like to shoot early.
6/25/09 HPM
Thank god the sun came out last night…I was about to crack after a week of rain. And boy did we have a beautiful evening to shoot; warm, sunny, and little wind. We had a record 16 shooter turnout last night as well, because I imagine everyone just wanted to do something outside after all [...]
Here comes the sun, go shoot
Rumor has it that the sun is going to make an appearance here in New England this afternoon. So why not get out, take a break, and do some belly shootin’? If you’re in southern New England, chances are there is a 40 shot prone match near you tonight. Quaker Hill in CT, Bell City [...]
6/18/09 HPM
We had record low attendance at last night’s HPM. Many of our regular shooters are competing in GA and a few wimpy competitors decided to stay home because it was raining. There was very little wind but it was pretty dark with all of the rain clouds and downpours. I tested a few lots of [...]

6/4/09 HPM
Finally, we had perfect conditions at HPM last night! Overcast, warm, and no wind set the stage for some great scores. In fact the top 3 scores were all clean, which is pretty rare at Hopkinton because of the often variable wind conditions. In third place, Len Remaly finished with an outstanding 400-30x with irons! Unfortunately for [...]
5/28/09 HPM Match
Erik Hoskins settles in to shoot some Xs at the HPM
Wow, was the weather crappy at last night’s HPM. Cold, raw, and 47 degrees at match time with a 5mph breeze in your face made it feel like winter. Erik Hoskins and myself were joking that is was warmer when we shot the New [...]
5/21/09 HPM Match
Senior 3P National Champion, Len Remaly, basks in the sun as he posts his first stage target.
It was a beautiful evening last night in Hopkinton. Clear skies, warm temperatures, and milder than forcasted winds set the stage for a very enjoyable evening of prone shooting and stories by the campfire. Despite the wind’s slower than forecasted velocity, [...]
2009 Hopkinton Prone Match Season
The dates for this year’s Hopkinton Prone Matches have been finalized. The format will remain the same; 40 shots at 100 yards followed by a gourmet dinner, all for $5. This year we will be shooting every Thursday April through August (rather than every other Thursday like we did last year). Shooting starts around 6pm (a little later in [...]
Match tonight, bring knife
We’re ready to roll for the final HPM match of the season. We’ve got 40 shots prone, steak, BBQ salad, fire roasted corn, and fresh steamers….all for the low,low price of $15. Please RSVP–if you haven’t already–and be sure to bring a steak knife and a good fork (the kind for stabbing meat) unless you’re [...]
Last HPM match of the season + steak
This Thursday is the last Hopkinton Prone Match of the season. To reward you for all your hard work–or lack of–we are going to do a steak dinner after the match. The cost for the match and dinner will be approximately $15 per person. Erik Hoskins is planning on bringing steamers and we will also [...]
