Noted Gunsmith’s Wife Passes

Zoe Kenyon, a resident of Ely, Nevada for 82 years, passed away in Sandy, Utah on Friday, October 9, 2009, at the age of 93. Zoe was born on November 20, 1915, in Monroe, Utah to Sophia Greco and Willard R. Anderson. Her family moved from Richfield, Utah to Ely, Nevada in 1927. Zoe graduated from White Pine High School in 1935 as valedictorian. On April 29, 1939, she married Karl B. Kenyon in Ely, Nevada. She was the first women to serve as Postmistress in Old Ruth. She also worked as a teacher’s aide for special needs students at Lane City School. Zoe was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and helping others in a variety of ways. Zoe is survived by her husband Karl B. Kenyon; children: Ronald E. (Ardath) Kenyon, Reggie D. (Alicia) Kenyon and Terry K. (Nickie) Kenyon; her sister Nola Weeks; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Gordon, Koz, Thales, Calvin and her daughter Gayle Bronson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Ely 1st Ward, at 900 Ave. E, East Ely, Nevada. Viewing will take place from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. at the church. Burial will be held at the Lund City Cemetery in Lund Nevada at 3:30 p.m. following the services.
