Temporary Suspension at Blue Trail Range

The 200 yard range at Blue Trail has been temporarily closed. Below is a message from Jim Castonguay the High Power Director of CSRRA:

Dear Fellow High Power Rifle Shooters
As  you may be aware, issues have arisen regarding Blue Trail Range’s High power Rifle Range ( 200 yd range)  impact area.  Rather than go into detail, I have attached some news articles that describe the nature of concerns and complaints.
Blue Trail Range is working to resolve these issues and I feel confident that resolution of the issues will be favorable to Blue Trail Range.
However until these matters are resolved Blue Trail Range has temporarily closed the 200 yard  rifle range to shooting activities in cooperation with authorities.  The closure DOES NOT effect the small bore, commercial, or pistol range activities and CSRRA events in these disciplines have not been curtailed to my current understanding.
Unfortunately until the issues are resolved, CSRRA Highpower Division will be suspending High Power Rifle shooting activities scheduled at the Blue Trail Range until further notice. This includes the Connecticut Big Bore Leagues Scheduled matches on 6/22/08, 7/13/08,  8/17/ 08,  and possibly for the remainder of the season. TheConnecticut State High Power Rifle Championship on 6-08-08 and the Harry Anthony Match on 8-24-08 are also being temporarily suspended.
I will be meeting with fellow directors, members and associates in efforts to restore a portion of the 2008 CSRRA High Power rifle activities, possibly at other venues.  I will keep you informed on the progress.  I would also like to remind all of you of shooting events at our member clubs.  Bell City Rifle club conducts monthly over the course league matches and fun activities,  Fin Fur and Feather also runs a monthly event.  Quaker Hill Rod and Gun Club and East Windsor Sportsmans should also be checked out.  Also give Northwest Connecticut Sportsmans a try.  Most if not all of these clubs have web sites and schedules posted.  Westfield sportsmans club in Westfield also runs very nice prone matches and their location is not too far away.  If I left anyone out who ‘s running shooting activities, send me a note and I’ll get it out on the web site.
Please refer to the CSRRA web site for further details, information and announcements. It should be updated in the near future.
Please froward this information to fellow shooters as my e-mial addresses are not complete.
Thank you in advance and I’ll keep you posted.
Sincerely,
Jim Castonguay High Power Director CSRRA
