Yes, it was exciting to watch. Especially knowing Michael Matthews who first came out to our range to shoot for the very first time with a squirrel gun and a large box of copper jacketed ammo from Walmart. This was his first exposure to any type of competitive shooting and it was just three years ago. Tommy Steadman helped him with a mat, coat etc etc so he could participate more effectively in subsequent matches. He loaned him an Anschutz 1913 (which his father later purchased and still uses) and Michael kept on shooting. He liked shooting rocks on the berm as much as aiming at a paper bull. He did alright since he loves to shoot. He accepted an appointment to the USMA and has shot on the college team this past year. Among his accomplishments, he finished second after the finals in the NCAA championships two days ago after tying for first in qualifying. We love this guy and everyone who knows him is extremely proud.
